Beastie Boys Setting Up to Release a New Album in the Fall

hotsauce Beastie Boys Setting Up to Release a New Album in the Fall

After postponing an album last September and canceling a slew of festival dates, the [lastfm]Beastie Boys [/lastfm] are preparing to release their next studio album. The New York trio put the group’s efforts on hold at the unexpected news of [lastfm]Adam Yauch[/lastfm]’s salivary gland cancer. The album will be the first non-instrumental production since 2004’s To the Five Boroughs, and will feature 17 new tracks–however that’s about all that’s certain. The cover art and track order could change, as well as the release date.  Depending on the health needs of [lastfm]Adam Yauch[/lastfm], the Beasties are willing to put everything on hold once more. In an interview with Rolling Stone, [lastfm]Mike D[/lastfm] compares the production to a fine wine:

“The writing is the growing of the grapes, and we’ve already macerated, and at this point, it’s been living in a barrel and being stored in bottles in the cellar, and hopefully by September, we will uncork.”

In the meantime, fans can sate their Beastie-needs on the DJ Hero released track, Lee Majors Come Again:

Vodpod videos no longer available.
