Director Martin Scorsese announced his latest project at Cannes this weekend, titled Living In The Material World: George Harrison, a music documentary about the late [lastfm]Beatles[/lastfm] star.  The film will contain never before seen footage and interviews of performers such as [lastfm]Paul McCartney[/lastfm], [lastfm]Ringo Starr[/lastfm], [lastfm]Eric Clapton[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Yoko Ono[/lastfm].

Currently in post-production, the feature was produced by Harrison’s widow Olivia, along with Nigel Sinclair.  Sinclair also produced Scorsese’s 2005 [lastfm]Bob Dylan[/lastfm] documentary No Direction Home.

Olivia had apparently been approached in the past about the project that told the story of her husband’s life, but ultimately chose Scorcese because the director’s preexisting relationship with the musician.
