bowie no go ee on tour ee David Bowie Saying Adios to the Road?

In a recent New York Times profile on supermodel-cum-[lastfm]David Bowie[/lastfm]-wife Iman, husband Bowie was quoted as saying “I’m not thinking of touring…I’m comfortable.” So what’s Bowie been up to in the mean time?

Well, you’ll just have to hop on past the break to find out.

“He draws, paints and collects 20th-century British art,” according to the Times piece. Ah yes, drawing, painting, and collection, the pastimes of an accomplished performer who doesn’t owe jack squat to his fans. We don’t blame the man. It’s exhausting to tour. We respect Bowie’s decision to chill the hell out.

In case you forgot, Bowie gave us 2002’s Heathen and 2003’s Reality, in addition to blessing fans with a stellar world tour. However, his stride was cut short when he suffered a heart attack in the summer of 2004.

Since then he’s made a few surprise appearances with the likes of [lastfm]Arcade Fire[/lastfm], [lastfm]Alicia Keys[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Pink Floyd[/lastfm]’s [lastfm]David Gilmour[/lastfm].

In 2006, Bowie nearly resurfaced with a full stage concert at the inaugural High Line Festival in New York, but backed out a few months later.

“Due to ongoing work on a new project, David Bowie has announced that it will not be possible for him to perform,” a statement read.

It’s been four years since that statement, and still no word of said “project.”

Iman suggested via Twitter back in May 09, that Bowie was indeed working on something. When asked by a follower if that “something” happened to be ‘recording new music,’ the supermodel responded:

“He’s cooking up something I’m sure you will love.”

Maybe the project in question is space travel:

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The Man Who Fell to Earth:

Vodpod videos no longer available.

So do you demand a new album from Bowie, or is it okay for him to just hang out for the rest of his Earth-dwelling days?
