[lastfm]Weezer[/lastfm]’s kept busy over the past two years, releasing both an album in ’08 and ’09, and show no signs of slowing down. Not only did they just release the unofficial anthem for the U.S. men’s World Cup team, but the California band are also working on their next album, which includes a track collaborated with one of indie rock’s biggest names.

Find out who [lastfm]Weezer[/lastfm] collaborated with below!

During a recent interview, Cuomo disclosed the new album will include a collaboration with Grammy-nominated, singer-songwriter [lastfm]Ryan Adams[/lastfm].

“I just wrote a song with [lastfm]Ryan Adams[/lastfm]. Not Bryan, Ryan,” Cuomo laughed before adding:

“It’s a very stirring and emotional and powerful Weezer song. He was really inspiring to work with. … He has a lot of wild and crazy energy. It’s gonna be on the Weezer record. He plays lead guitar on it, but it will be on the Weezer record, for sure.”

When asked when fans could expect their upcoming album, Cuomo told MTV Radio:

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to say here, so I’m going to keep my mouth shut, but, uh, people are going to be hearing new Weezer very soon.”

Ryan Adams is an amazing musician, so hopefully this pairing signifies Weezer coming to their senses. Seriously, when was the last time anyone got really excited about Weezer? *Crickets* Exactly.

After all, their last album, Raditude, included collaborations with rapper Lil’ Wayne (Um, why?) and pop-punkers The All-American Rejects (Pass!). ‘Nough said!

  • Are we right, or are we right?

Let’s kick it old school with Weezer‘s “Say It Ain’t So” from ’94s The Blue Album.
