Aerosmith:Makin’ Up to Break Up

steven tyler Aerosmith:Makin Up to Break Up

There is a lot of passionate hate and equally passionate love in the music entity that is [lastfm]Aerosmith[/lastfm]. They haven’t performed together without drama in forever; but you know what the old adage says: the best part of breakin’ up, is makin’ up. The makin’ up must have been really good because according to [lastfm]Steven Tyler[/lastfm] the band is “just kicking ass and taking names every night”  while performing during the European and South American stints of its Cocked, Locked And Ready To Rock Tour.

For more deets on how the band is in the “best shape of their lives”, having “wake-up calls”, on the music that is “coming down the pike” and other cliché phrases only [lastfm]Aerosmith [/lastfm]can get away with, meet us after the jump!

Ever since last August when [lastfm]Steven Tyler[/lastfm] fell off the stage during a performance because of complications with intoxicants and injured himself, “the f***-yous” have  “run deep in a band like [lastfm]Aerosmith[/lastfm]”, according  to the aforementioned vocalist.

After they cancelled the tour and Tyler went to rehab, he considered solo projects while they considered replacing him, most notably [lastfm]Joe Perry[/lastfm] who took the time out to release his own solo album. Tyler elaborates:

“Differences do get in the way. There’s a lot of things I hate Joe for saying and he hates me for saying and things we’ve done back and forth. But this was interesting this time around because now that we’re back together, it’s like deprivation. It’s not even a reminder, a wake-up call. It just is the truth of why we were both born and put on this planet.”

But the animosity did not go on for very long  because the band “lives to be on stage with each other and play”, have been rocking foreign stages and, from what [lastfm]Steven Tyler [/lastfm]and [lastfm]Joe Perry[/lastfm] say, are playing the best shows of their lives:

“Every night that we play, it’s like the best [lastfm]Aerosmith[/lastfm] has played in 40 years. It’s been the best tour that I can remember in my life.”

Perry adds that:

“We’ve been pulling out some of the old tricks that we used to do back in the 70s, only now it’s a lot better because we’re in a lot better shape. I mean, we’re in the best shape we’ve ever been.”

[lastfm]Joe Perry [/lastfm]contends that it was easy for the band to get back in the groove of things, because the band members just love each other:

“We’ve been together for so long that my heart…is never more than six inches away from Steven’s, ever. Even though we may not talk for a short amount of time or a long amount of time…I always have a feeling deep inside that we’re always going to be together. This is it. And that’s what makes [lastfm]Aerosmith [/lastfm]last as long as it has.”

So, after this tour, are their any new albums on the forefront? [lastfm]Steven Tyler [/lastfm]would say with a roll of his eyes, “Duh.” Because he also says a new album is:

“Something we all want to do and all are going to do, and that’s that. God knows Joe kept writing and I’m writing, and we’re going to put it back together. We got one more for Sony to do and a lot more for someone else that wants to pay us.”

[lastfm]Joe Perry [/lastfm] agrees:

“The bottom line is we haven’t done our best record yet, and we feel like first of all we owe it to ourselves, and second of all we owe it to our fans.”

While we wait, let’s reappoint ourselves with some old [lastfm]Aerosmith[/lastfm]. This was our favorite [lastfm]Aerosmith[/lastfm] video when we were teenage Catholic girls. Although, it always disturbed us that [lastfm]Steven Tyler [/lastfm] was Liv Tyler’s dad. Watch and you’ll see why.
