aerosmith Aerosmith Cleaning Up Their Act Best Record To Come

It seemed that the very painful behavior from the boys of [lastfm]Aerosmith[/lastfm] had fans believing the band was on the road to rehab or retirement rather than the recording studio–but the band is claiming that the wounds are healing and bottles are being put to the side. And guitarist Joe Perry is even promising fans that the “best record is yet to come”.

Steven Tyler opens up about rehab and Aerosmith’s future… after the jump!

Let’s hope the worst is behind for the members of Aerosmith. Their 2009 tour was marked with the fall of front man Steven Tyler, who fell off stage during a performance, breaking his shoulder and cutting up his very pretty face.

“It was a real trying time for me,” Tyler said.   “We didn’t speak to each other for a while after that and Joe [Perry] just decided to look for another singer. I don’t know what he was thinking, but we’ve since made amends to each other and more importantly the band’s playing better.”

The band was forced to cancel the rest of their shows, and with a sneaking suspicion Tyler was using drugs, even threatened to search for a new lead singer. Let’s face it… there could be no other singer than Steven Tyler in Aerosmith. Simply not possible!

We hope the band has better luck this time around… they kicked off their American tour this week in Oakland, California, after wrapping up their European tour. The band is going to focus on playing the Aerosmith classics, switching it up from city to city, but giving the fans what they want to hear.

When you got ‘Dream On’ and ‘Sweet Emotion’ and ‘Walk This Way’ and ‘Love In An Elevator,’ you can’t leave them out of the set,” Tyler said. “And there’s a lot of esoteric stuff we can add.”

They are especially looking forward to their September 14th show in their hometown at Boston’s Fenway Park, and to head to the recording studio when this tour comes to an end.  (The band has not released an album since Just Push Play in 2001.)

Perry, who has recently made headlines with his motorcycle accident, is determined to make a new record. “I feel like we haven’t made the best record we can make yet,” Perry said.

“We owe it to ourselves. We owe it to our fans. We owe it to the label. We wanna have fun in the studio, basically. And it’s time.”
