[lastfm]Weezer[/lastfm] is known for having interesting album covers, but the one they selected for their Sept. 14 release might be the most eye-raising one yet. This one is even too surreal for The Muppets to fathom! There’s no way to sugarcoat this one: it’s that dude Hurley, from Lost.

About putting actor Jorge Garcia on the cover of the band’s eighth LP, lead singer [lastfm]Rivers Cuomo[/lastfm] said:
We struggled super hard trying to come up with an album title, trying to find some kind of phrase that summed up the whole aesthetic behind the album: ‘Heavy Mental,’ ‘Smaller Than Life.’ I was coming up with all kinds of stuff, but ultimately, we just went with some random word that doesn’t really have anything to do with anything.
I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia — it just had this amazing vibe. We didn’t want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as ‘the Hurley record’ even if left it without that title, so we just called it ‘Hurley.’ No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face.
Ironically, the musician never watched Lost until after meeting and becoming friends with Garcia. He has since begun to watch the show, working hard to avoid finale spoilers.
I only made it through season two, so I was really nervous hanging out with Hurley/Jorge recently, because I didn’t want to hear something about how it all resolves, or overhear anyone else talking about it. I really like the show though.
This really is quite the remarkable album cover. Unremarkable, really. What is there to say? Nothing! Shocking, really. [lastfm]Weezer[/lastfm] for the win— again!
