Next year will be the 50th anniversary of [lastfm] The Beach Boys[/lastfm]. While many of [lastfm]The Beach Boys[/lastfm]’ songs create a feeling of California nostalgia and perennial youth, [lastfm]Beach Boys[/lastfm] drummer [lastfm]Dennis Wilson[/lastfm]–who passed away after drowning in Marina Del Rey in 1983–will always be forever young. Known for his troubled artistry and his actual beach bum lifestyle, Wilson will be the subject of a 2011 biopic set for release right around [lastfm]The Beach Boys[/lastfm]’ anniversary. Do you want to know which indie masterminds are behind it?

The artistic powerhouses responsible for the 2008 Sundance Film Festival hit, Bottle Shock directors Randall Miller and writer Jody Savin, are working on the flick with Wilson’s daughter, Jennifer. The pic will highlight his brilliant solo work Pacific Ocean Blue, his time with [lastfm]The Beach Boys[/lastfm], and his trying past. Randall Miller elaborates,

Dennis was a pained and tortured soul, yet brilliant and loved dearly by so many who knew him. This film has the makings of a tour-de-force performance in the hands of the right actor. As a director, I search for stories that expose the soul of a character in new territories that excite me as a filmmaker.

Who will they get to play [lastfm]Dennis Wilson[/lastfm]?
