[lastfm]Young MC[/lastfm] might have been one of the shortest sets at Jack’s 5th Show (approximately 15 minutes of bald, track-suited wonder), but he was the product of many mysterious backstage whispers by both drunk rock gods loopy enough to admit their guilty pleasure love of old school hip-hop and all the Jack’s 5th Show staff under the age of 25-years-old. When Young MC finally took the stage, hoards of Converse-hoofed youth stampeded over to the stage to bust a move.

When Young MC took the stage for a literal (and sadly, metaphorical) 15-minutes of fame, the audience was in heavy rocker mode; screaming exclamations of man-happy joy over [lastfm]Skid Row[/lastfm], surrounded by sunburned cougars, and suitably lubricated. There was a steady buzz of adrenalin brought to you by vibrating guitar strings and $14 beers.

No one could anticipate what would come next.

Young MC bolted out in a red, white, and blue track suit, his bald head already sweating from the late afternoon sun. He looked like a shining beacon of hip-hop hope…except no longer that young and possessing more of the certified foxtasticness of LL Cool J than the quirky cuteness of a schoolboy spittin’ flow.

There was a roar of appreciation from the audience and the hands that were once engaging in the rock-lock were now pumping fists of ecstatic, bass-driven bliss. When Young MC chanted “let me hear you say bust it,” audience members not only screamed “bust it” as loud as possible (that’s what she said…),but also broke out into their favorite 90s-era dance moves. If everyone had worn Delicious Vinyl t-shirts and bamboo earrings, you never would have known that these were middle-aged hesher accountants.

That is how good the one-two combo punch can be when you combine Young MC and plenty of booze .

Want to witness this for yourself? Well, if you want it, baby, you got it.
