TRON: The Animated Series?

TRON the animated series by Disney set for 2012

by Jordy Altman

Christmas 2010 came and went, but one man seems to have more staying power than Santa Claus: Jeff Bridges.

Fresh out of the smash box office weekend, Bridges had two blockbusters topping the charts over a most successful holiday weekend. Now it seems that Bridges will be lending his likeness to the television, for Disney is already in the works to develop an animated version based on the movie.

But which movie will become a television show?? True Grit or Tron!??

Despite rumors of  a third TRON movie in development, Disney is ready and willing to produce TRON: Uprising, a series that uncovers the thirty years that pass between the first and second movie.

Think Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but with more bikes and less light sabers.

While Bridges hasn’t singed on (yet) to loan his voice-over talents, some big names are already being associated with the project. Mandy Moore, Lance Henriksen, Elijah Wood, and Bruce Boxleitner to name a few.

Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, the screenwriters of TRON: Legacy, are the headwriters for the new project. Tron: Uprising will begin airing on Disney XD in 2012.
