gervais11 Ricky Gervais Kills It at the Golden Globes

If you missed the Golden Globes telecast this past Sunday evening, I for one don’t blame you. The Golden Globes, and pretty much all Hollywood awards shows for that matter, are bunk-tastic, self-aggrandizing exercises in barfitude but this year….this year Ricky Gervais made it a bit interesting…

Nobody was safe from Gervais and it was apparent right from the get-go in the opening monologue…

Charlie Sheen. Johnny Depp. Angelina Jolie. the Tourist. the Hollywood Foreign Press. Cher. Hugh Hefner. Sex and the City 2. Scientology and (wink-wink, nudge nudge), Tom Cruise and John Travolta. All eviscerated off top.

Seriously though. The Tourist nominated in the Best Comedy/Musical Movie category? Dead on Gervais.

And probably due to riffing on the secret-cult who shall not be named, Gervais disappeared for about an hour during the telecast for some unknown reason and the Twitter universe went wild with rumors

But a bit more subdued Gervais returned for the last bit of the show…and I say subdued UNTIL he dropped this nugget to close the show out…

A bunch of douchebagguette entertainment reporters are bashing Gervais for being rude. Or too mean. Or for going too far with his comments. I for one wouldn’t even be watching that flaming turd of an awards show if it WERE’NT for Gervais. And I know I’m not the only one that feels that way.

But what about you people? Whatta you think about Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes this year? Vote in the poll below…

And if you missed the Golden Globes because you have a real life, here is a montage of all the Ricky Gervais bits from this years Golden Globes..

I for one agree; he killed it! To quote my recent post on the same topic, we watch these shows on the off chance that comedic hosts like Ricky Gervais will take the opportunity to knock the praise-seeking celebs off of their cozy pedestals. If they feel that they deserve all of the recognition of an awards show for playing pretend, then they 100 percent deserve the flack they get for being a shit person in real life, and further more should be expecting it. That’s my two cents anyway, love the post! Check out my blog if you want to see what else I have to say at 🙂
