[Obscure Holiday] National Margarita Day!

Obscure National Holiday

Wait, YESTERDAY was National Margarita Day? That’s convenient. We didn’t even realize we were celebrating last night.

After all, a three-day weekend full of pesticide martinis and fumigation shooters would have been enough – FOR THE COMMON MAN. But we are JACK FM! Any excuse for drinking is an excuse for binge drinking in our eyes.

Therefore, since we dropped the ball yesterday and ate the worm with total disregard of an American holiday, we’re gonna keep the party going ALL DAY LONG.

And yes, Todd in Burbank, we do realize today is National Dog Biscuit Day. Well, why don’t you go ahead and appreciate all of the dog biscuits your little heart desires while we pour another shot of tequila.

Do you understand the power of the margarita? This wonderful drink entices even the most timid of partiers, inviting them along with the promise of a fun, fresh, fruit slushie.

We decided to dig up a brief history of this classic libation. According to The Tex Mex Cookbook

“The margarita is a success with a thousand fathers (and a few mothers.) Among those claiming credit for the original drink’s invention are a San Antonio society dame, Mrs. William (Margarita) Sames, who first served her Margarita’s cocktail at a party in Acapulco in 1948.”

1948? Everybody knows how weak drinks were during the 1940’s. Here’s how we make ours around the office.

JACK FM’s Ultimate Margarita Recipe

  • 3/4 cup lemon juice, from 6 to 10 lemons
  • 3/4 cup lime juice, from 8 to 12 limes
  • 3 1/2 cups high quality tequila, preferably reposado
  • 2 cups Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or Triple Sec
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup (or more to taste)
  • 2 quarts ice cubes

That’s right! Suck on a couple of those, then watch this.

Congratulations. Now you’re celebrating the best National Margarita Day ever.

Oh, and if you’re in the building, come on back and have a drink with us. We’re tired of drinking with Cranfill…

We forgot to mention – since CORPORATE is keeping a weary eye on our discussions regarding alcohol, please remember to drink responsibly. We’d hate to be blamed for TOO MUCH FUN.
