Oh, we thought you meant Arrested Development!

Mitch Hurwitz, the mastermind behind the highly entertainment yet short-lived TV comedy Arrested Development, announced today that the show will come back for “9 or 10” episodes to prep fans for the major motion picture.

Apparently it doesn’t matter that the show has been off-air for five years. Hurwitz doesn’t see it as an obstacle, but rather an opportunity to revisit America’s funniest family and see what they have done with their lives.

Our guess? Frozen bananas and vodka.

“Just creatively, I have been working on the screenplay for a long time and found that as time went by, there was so much more to the story. In fact, where everyone’s been for five years became a big part of the story.” Hurwitz told The New York Times.

The new season will focus each episode on a different member of the family, first focusing on Buster Bluth and so on and so forth. Reviving an old franchise from the dead is a rare deal, let alone a handful of episodes and a movie. Despite all, Hurwitz remains enthusiastic, noting that the project “requires studios to work together that don’t typically work together, film and TV.”

He added, “So in working on the screenplay, I found even if I just gave five minutes per character to that back story, we were halfway through the movie before the characters got together.”

While there is no official deal in place yet, fans the world over will do the chicken dance and eat a frozen banana in rejoice.

Finally, we’ll get to know what happens to the Bluth family. Do George Michael and Maeby get together? Does Franklin return? Will Gob be allowed back into the Magician’s Alliance?

Only time will tell. In the meantime, we’ve got to run. We don’t want to be late to our appointment with our Analyst/Therapist, Dr. Tobias Fünke.
