The Best Videos Of Kinda Weird Grammy Moments

Yay, the Grammys are almost here!

Boo, that mean’s that we’re going to have to watch them or pretend to care.

Eh, not to worry, ’cause Jack FM has compiled a list of kinda weird or kinda entertaining things that have happened at the Grammys.  Woo!  Let’s dive in.

6.  William Shatner DOESN’T win the Spoken Word Grammy in 1977

So, uh, Shatner rules.  You know this.  I know this.  But you know who doesn’t know this?  The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.  They nominated him for a Grammy back in 1977 for Best Spoken Word Performance, but then gave the award to someone else.  What the crap was that?

In fairness, the award that year was won by Henry Fonda, Helen Hayes, James Earl Jones, and Orson Welles.  Those names have some serious credibility.  Still, Shatner should have been a shoe in next year for this –

5.  Three Six Mafia wins an Oscar

Okay, so technically, this is the wrong awards show.  But whatever.  I’m still chalking this up as a weird Grammy moment, ’cause I really need something to fill out this list, and it was kinda weird.

Not only that, but this lead to Martin Scorsese FINALLY winning a Grammy for Best Rap Album the following year, so it turned out all good.

4. Soy Bomb interrupts Bob Dylan

The only thing I can think of that’s more deadly than soy?  A bomb made out of soy.  And how could that bomb do maximum damage?  Simple, just set it off during a Bob Dylan performance.

3. Tupac and KISS give an award to Hootie and the Blowfish

I know what you’re thinking.  “What’s so weird about seeing Tupac alive?  And seeing him on stage with KISS, or that he calls KISS his homeboys?  And what’s weird about Hootie and the Blowfish?

Um, none of that is weird. It’s just weird that TLC was snubbed for “Waterfalls.”

2.  Content Removed due to a Copyright Claim by CBS

Okay, it turns out that there is absolutely nothing weird about what was supposed to be our number 2 Grammy moment.  Nothing funny either.  Let’s move along.

1.  Old Dirty Bastard interrupts Shawn Colvin

We have arrived at what may be the greatest piece of tape in the history of the universe.

So you may ask, “Why interrupt Shawn Colvin and talk about Puffy?“  Well, aside from the fact that ODB was wearing an outfit that cost him A LOT of money,  ODB must have thought that Sean Combs (Puff Daddy’s legal name), not Sean Colvin, had just won Song of the Year.

After all, Puffy is good, but Wu-Tang is the BEST.
