nascar 5 Best NASCAR Wrecks of All Time (BRING ON DAYTONA!!!)

Since the Daytona 500, and the beginning of NASCAR season, is on for this Sunday, (Oscars what?), I thought it fitting to look back at some of the more amazing crashes in NASCAR history. Because let’s be honest, we all like watching things crash and burn. I mean, why else are we still paying attention to the Kardashians?

5) 1993 Winston 500 Talladega Rusty Wallace

This happens in the last lap of Winston 500 in 1993 and the main reason why this crash makes the list is A) Wallace is doing about 210 MPH at the time of the crash, and B) the condition of the car at the end. A car bomb couldn’t do that much damage.

4) 2007 Daytona 500 Clint Bowyer

Yeah Kevin Harvick won but who cares? Clint Bowyer crosses the finish line UPSIDE DOWN at over 100 mph. This has to be seen to be believed.

3) 2009 Watkins Glen Sam Hornish/Jeff Gordon

You usually don’t see big bad wrecks on a road course but when an out of control car veers into oncoming traffic, the result aint usually pretty. Watch this wreck from Jeff Gordon’s on-board camera starting at the 1:20 mark. Wow.

2) 2003 Daytona 500 Ryan Newman Flip, and flips, and flips…

To truly appreciate this clip, you gotta watch it in slo-mo. Unreal. Watch the rear axle go flying and then for a heavy dose of surrealism, check out the view from Dale Jarret’s car at the :45 mark.

and I could’ve gone with an obvious choice here but I have something called class. So instead of the saddest wreck in NASCAR history, I went with the most visually impressive…
I was actually watching this race when this happened and the only response I could possibly give was….HO-LEE SHEEEEEEEET!!! Carl Edwards goes airborne on the final lap and then since his car couldn’t finish the race, Carl finishes the race on foot. Shades of Ricky Bobby.
