Jet Strip Cabaret, a strip club in Lennox, California is living up to the old adage:

Strippers have hearts of gold… and deep, charitable pockets.

Jet Strip recently donated a whopping $1,200 to the financially distressed Lennox Little League Team to keep them afloat. In recent seasons, the team has seen decreased revenue due to rising costs, falling attendance, and new regulations preventing the teams from selling refreshments. As a result, the 2012 season is in jeopardy of being left in the dust of the dugout.

Enter Jet Strip Cabaret general manager James Wallace: a community advocate and all-around nice guy, his club regularly donates to the Lennox Coordinating Council.

The organization typically redistributes the money to its various interests anonymously. In this instance, Jet Strip learned that there is such thing as bad publicity. Maria Verduzco Smith, longtime Council member spoke up. She wanted to get Jet Strip “[…] out of the background and let people know [they] care about the community” so she divulged the source of the donation to the League.

Don’t look for Jet Strip logos on the Lennox’s jerseys a la “The Bad News Bears” anytime soon, though. The team refused the money! The managers of the team deemed accepting the donation inappropriate.

With the 2012 season just weeks away, the little leaguers were still in danger of having to throw in the towel until CBS Los Angeles reported the story earlier in the week.

One philanthropic viewer might save the day after all: “We saw this story on the news about you guys having to give back that money,” local paramedic Joe Chidley said “We wanted to present you with this check for the $1,600 you had to give back.” Joe the paramedic may have surpassed Jet Strip’s donation by $400, but we were sort of hoping to have our own Bad News Bears right in our own backyard.
