Robert Plant and The Band Of Joy will release a new live DVD and BluRay on July 9. The performance, filmed for the TV show Live From The Artists Den, was shot at the historic War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

(The show always films artists performing in unconventional venues.) The DVD will feature interview clips and footage not included in the television broadcast.

Band Of Joy, named after Plant’s pre-Led Zeppelin band (which included Zep drummer John Bonham), featured singer-guitarists Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller. Miller, a solo artist on his own, has also worked with John Fogerty and Emmylou Harris in the past. Griffin is a Grammy winning singer-songwriter who has been covered by artists including The Dixie Chicks, Kelly Clarkson and Emmylou Harris.

The setlist included a healthy amount of Led Zeppelin classics including “Black Dog,” “Houses Of The Holy,” “Tangerine,” “Ramble On,” “Gallows Pole” and “Rock and Roll.” Also included are a number of songs from the Band Of Joy covers album, including Los Lobos’ “Angel Dance,” Richard Thompson’s “House Of Cards,” and traditional songs “Cindy, I’ll Marry You Someday” and “Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down.” Plant also touches on his earlier solo career via “Down To The Sea” and his ’80s hit, “In The Mood.”

Plant seems to have moved on from The Band Of Joy: his new backing group is called The Sensational SpaceShifters, which includes Patty Griffin from The Band Of Joy. Plant and The Sensational Space Shifters perform at the HMV Forum in London July 12.
