WOOO-HOOO!!!! The NFL Playoffs are here!!!! Now true, LA/OC doesn’t have a home town horse in this race but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be gambling right? Well, technically NONE of us should be gambling……but we should be investing. And if you heed the wise words of Dr. Cranfill, putting money down on Wild Card Weekend wont be gambling, it’ll be the safest investment you make this side of a Roth IRA.

texansbengals NFL WILD CARD WEEKEND: Cranfill Makes His Picks

Houston Texans (-4.5) vs Cincinnati Bengals– Sat.Jan.5th (4:30pm on NBC)
The state of Texas has a history of not being able to defend their home turf. And while San Antonio is some 190 miles west of Reliant Stadium that’s still entirely too close for my comfort. If only Custer would’ve had JJ Watt at the Alamo, history might’ve told us a different story. Watt will be the difference in this game. As much as I’d like to see some orange-clad kittens further humble the state of Texas, alas… it ain’t happening. Take the Texans to cover easily.

Green Bay Packers (-7.5) vs Minnesota Vikings– Sat.Jan.5th (8:00pm on NBC)
Meeting #3 this year between these division rivals. Last time in Lambeau the Pack won by 11. Combine that knowledge with the fact that Minnesota has only won one OUTDOOR game all year long and Vikes fans are left with slim hopes for Saturday. You would think with a Viking as your mascot you’d do your best plundering and looting on the road but nope. Honestly? I kinda feel like we should all avoid gambling on this game. Yeah, that’s no fun but neither is donating plasma 8 times a week to make rent because you made a bad gambling investment.

ravenscolts NFL WILD CARD WEEKEND: Cranfill Makes His Picks
Baltimore Ravens (-7) vs Indianapolis Colts– Sun.Jan.6th (10am on CBS)
Now I could still be high on peyote from last weekend but I believe the Indy Colts used to be the Baltimore Colts and then the Cleveland Browns up and moved to Baltimore to become the Ravens. Such an incestuous state of affairs in this match-up. And when things get weird, I’ll put my money on the team named after the work of Edgar Allen Poe. Baltimore wins, Colts cover, final score….20-14.

Seattle Seahawks vs Washington Redskins (+3)- Sun. Jan.6th (1:30pm on FOX)
The Redskins are a division winning, 3 point home underdog? Blatant disrespect right there. But then again, looking back at history, the Redskins didn’t defend their home field too well when whitey showed up back in the 1500’s either. But much as I did in the Texans/Bengals matchup, I am going against the historical record here and will take the Redskins to win it outright. And if they don’t, it’s totally Dan Snyders fault and we should burn his house down.
