Well, at least one good thing came out of LA sports this weekend. Okay, depending on which side of the fence you are, a few good things happened this weekend.

The Clippers beat the Lakers Friday night 107 – 102 despite nearly blowing a 17 and 18 point lead. They went on to pummel the Warriors Saturday 115 – 89 while the Lakers, frankly, continue to suck (Seriously, they’re just awful. Don’t get us started on them). Bruins basketball also picked up a win Saturday, their 7th in a row.

But perhaps the best news coming into Monday is that NHL players and owners appear to finally have reached a deal. Since this is only a verbal agreement at this point, a lot that needs to happen before hockey fans can see their teams hit the ice again. But, ESPN reports, all sides involved are saying this is a go.

What does that mean? It means hockey won’t be cancelled this season after all. It will be a shortened season, however, only 50 or 48 games versus the normal 82, but hey, we’ll take it. It also means Kings fans won’t have to wait until next season to see their first championship banner go up in the Staples Center rafters.

And most importantly, it means the World Champion LA Kings can defend their title in earnest.

Depending on the scheduling, it will be either a 50 or 48 game season beginning either January 15th or January 19th, respectively. Both sides hope all the paperwork will be completed by this week, making the 2012-2013 NHL season officially ready to begin. And to that we say, LETS GO KINGS!
