Dave Grohl‘s Sound City Players blew the roof off of Park City Live in Utah earlier this month at the Sundance Film Festival (January 18), and they will rock the Hollywood Palladium after the film’s L.A. premiere later this week. As of now, that is the only concert that the all-star group has on their schedule, but it looks like they might be hitting a few other locations, including New York and South By Southwest.

One of the group’s vocalists is Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor; at the Sundance show, he performed “From Can To Can’t,” a song he recorded for the film’s soundtrack, and a handful of Cheap Trick covers. Taylor told Radio.com that the gig gave him a “fanboy-gasm,”  and that he’s looking forward to the super-group’s L.A. gig this week. And although a Sound City Players show at SXSW hasn’t been announced, he reveals that he’s flying into Austin for the event — which will feature Dave Grohl as a keynote speaker. After mentioning that “It’s gonna be kind of ‘hell on wheels’ for me, I’m gonna fly in for (the L.A. premiere) and then fly back to the (Stone Sour) tour,” he added, “I’m gonna do South By Southwest with everybody, that’s in March.”  Because of his touring commitments with Stone Sour (touring for their House Of Gold & Bones Part 1 album, Part 2 is due in April) that’s all he’ll be able to do with the S.C. Players for now.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Dave Grohl confirmed that there will be a few other shows, specifically mentioning New York. “The musicians have all really jumped on after the [Park City] show. I didn’t know if Stevie [Nicks] was gonna be able to do New York, and after we did this she was like, ‘I’m doing New York.'” He also said that a clip from the movie will be shown on a video screen before each performer – something that they didn’t do at the Sundance show. “We couldn’t fit that production in the [Park City] club, so I was killing time in between songs by telling stories.” He went on to say “My original idea was that we’d have a video presentation between each performer, which is what we’re doing in Los Angeles, New York and around the world.” So it’s safe to say that more shows are in the works.

If you’ve been under a rock for the past few weeks, the Sound City Players is a group put together by Grohl, and includes his fellow Foo Fighters, his Nirvana-mate Krist Novoselic, Corey Taylor, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield and John Fogerty, among others. The huge collective are promoting Grohl’s film, Sound City, about the legendary Los Angeles recording studio.  The film opens on Thursday (January 31) in select theaters, and will be available for download from iTunes on Friday (February 1).  The soundtrack, which features collaborations between Grohl and a number of artists including Nicks, Springfield and Paul McCartney, will be available in March.
