Meet Drummer Charles Connor Saturday 2/9 At Santa Monica Civic Auditorium!

There once was a fella from New Orleans who said “rhythm and blues had a baby, and they named it rock N’ roll.” If you’d like to meet the man behind this statement, then it is your lucky day folks. After all, it’s more thrilling to hear the words from his voice rather than read it in 12 point font.

Charles “Keep-a-Knockin’ Connor”, original drummer for Little Richard, and Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame Inductee, will autograph copies of his inspiring book, “Don’t Give Up Your Dreams: You Can Be A Winner Too!”, at the upcoming Santa Monica Antiquarian Book, Print, Photo, and Paper Fair. Connor will also be selling autographed drum sticks, personal collection photographs, and his very own t-shirts that read; “Keep the rhythm funky and juicy.”

Connor, whom James Brown(“The Godfather of Soul”) said was “The first to put the funk into the rhythm”, has worked with other greats such as Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, the Original coasters, and Lloyd Price, keeps active as a public speaker, TV commercial pitchman, recording session musician, and live performer. For more information about this one-of-a-kind pioneer, visit his web site at:

The event will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 10 am- 6 pm, and on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 11 am – 4 pm at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401-3209. General admission is $8.00. Those with a discount coupon pay $6.00. Seniors pay $5.00 and children under 12 get in for free. Ample parking is available.

Be there or be square, and as Connor says it best, keep the funk in the rhythm.
