Everyone has an opinion on who their favorite musicians are, but for Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Deep Purple is up there and deserves a long-due induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

Ulrich spoke to Metal Hammer’s Peter Makowski who published his interview on his Facebook page.  When Makowski asked Ulrich why Deep Purple hasn’t been recognized yet, Ulrich was clear that the “selection process” is made up of “critics” and that Deep Purple was “never a critic’s band…in America.”

“It’s only a matter of time. Rather sooner than later,” continued Ulrich. “We’ve already lost one member. The fact that Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath are in and Purple is not is one of the crimes of that whole institution. We’ll get them in soon enough; I’m working on it.”

Recently, Metallica played a metal version of the National Anthem before a San Francisco Giants versus Los Angeles Dodgers game.
