Well, fan voting for the final spots on this years AL and NL All-Star teams concluded today and for some stupid reason, the Braves 1B Freddie Freeman won the vote over Dodgers Cuban phenom Yasiel Puig.

All an time record was set for total number of votes cast at 79.2 million. Freeman also set a record with 19.6 million votes with Puig coming in second with…..something. I dunno. I can’t be bothered to look it up. Freeman winning the vote over Puig just illustrates what we’ve known all along….democracy is a failed institution.

There is good news though. After last nights extra inning win, the Dodgers now sit only a mere 1.5 games out of first place. My what a difference 3 weeks makes! The Dodgers take on the Colorado Rockies tonight at Dodgers Stadium on Adrian Zmed Gonzalez Bobblehead night at 7:10p.

I’ll just leave this Puig highlight compilation here for you to enjoy since we (presumably) won’t be seeing the Chosen One in action come Tuesday.

The actual MLB All-Star game, like we even still care at this point, is set for this coming Tuesday evening, live from Citi Field in god awful Queens, NY on FOX. Home run derby set for Monday on ESPN.
