In a recent post on Jethro Tull‘s website, frontman Ian Anderson told fans that a new album is in the works, but is not sure whether it will be an Ian Anderson or a Jethro Tull release just yet.

Anderson, who released the solo album Thick As A Brick 2 in 2012 as a follow up to 1972’s Jethro Tull albumThick as a Brick, says that the upcoming album, which is currently unnamed, will be more aggressive than Thick As A Brick 2.

Anderson tells his fans in the post that he will start recording the new album in December of this year or January of 2014. He will begin to play the new material during the UK tour in late April of next year.

While Anderson will not release a lot of information about the new album, he did mention there will be much less acoustic guitar, more flute and heavier guitar sounds than what was in TAAB2.

Just like with the original Thick as a Brick and TAAB2, Anderson makes mention of Gerald Bostock, his fictional character that he used to write the concept albums, helping with the new album.

Anderson warns his fans in the letter that the album is not a for sure thing just yet, saying, “But then again, knowing me (as I am learning to do), I might just scrap it all and start afresh.”
