We’ve been looking forward to a Freddie Mercury biopic with the illustrious talents of Sacha Baron Cohen–who can basically play anyone with total authencity–but, after Cohen pulled out from the Mercury pic after being attached to it for three years and teases us with its inevitability, Cohen left when he couldn’t agree with Queen on the tone of the movie.

Instead of looking to replace him, screenwriter Peter Morgan told the BBC (via Consequence of Sound) that the movie will “probably not happen.”

That’s a bummer because although the Queen musical will be touring North America this fall, the world really needs a legit biopic of Mercury, a musical icon to all.
