Here at JACK FM, we love us some Scarlett Johansson (who, btw, was named by Esquire as 2013’s Sexiest Woman Alive). So when we heard that her Super Bowl SodaStream commercial was rejected by FOX, our imagination went wild.

Was it too risque, perhaps? Maybe a little too suggestive?

When we found out the commercial was available online, our hearts skipped a beat. Then we saw it.

Lame, FOX. Super lame.

Turns out the commercial is just fine, with the exception of one line of dialog at the very end. First Scarlett demonstrates how to use the machine, whimsically asks how she can make the campaign go viral and goes into a straw sucking frenzy before uttering the line, “Sorry Coke and Pepsi.”

You see, SodaStream is a home soda making machine, which is in direct competition with soft drink giants like Coke and Pepsi. According to Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream, FOX didn’t reject the ad because of overt sexiness (which it kind of lacks, to be honest.) Instead, he told USA Today the he believes the commercial was rejected  “because they’re [FOX] afraid of Coke and Pepsi,” who are pumping huge amounts of money into the Super Bowl and probably wouldn’t appreciate being be called out by a competitor.

Niether FOX nor Coke or Pepsi have responded to the accusations, but you have to wonder if SodaStream is taking the “get-rejected-then-post-the-ad-online-and-hope-it-goes-viral” approach, which, if that’s the case, they’ve suceeded. At the time of posting, the banned “uncensored” commercial has been viewed over 1.6 million times.

Do you think Birnbaum is right, or is this just a marketing ploy? Take a look at the commercial below and decide for yourself.
