Rod Stewart‘s catalog continues to yield jewels for record label catalog departments. Storyteller: The Complete Anthology contained hits, album tracks and rarities from his solo career, the Faces and the Jeff Beck Group over four CDs (and was released over 20 years ago!). Reason to Believe: The Complete Mercury Studio Recordings contained his early solo albums from 1969 to 1974 and a few unreleased tracks from that era as well. And The Rod Stewart Sessions 1971-1998 contains all unreleased recordings from that era (a lot of which are alternate versions and demos).

Now, Warner Brothers Records has announced Live 1976-1998: Tonight’s The Night, containing 58 unreleased live tracks. The first disc includes performances recorded in England in 1976 on his tour for A Night On The Town; “Tonight’s The Night (Gonna Be Alright),” “You Wear It Well,” “Maggie May,” his cover of Jimi Hendrix‘s “Angel” and the Temptations’ “(I Know) I’m Losing You” (which Stewart originally recorded with the Faces) are on that disc.

Most of disc two was recorded at a 1979 concert at the Forum in Los Angeles, including “(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don’t Want To Be Right” and “Foot Loose And Fancy Free.” That disc also includes a 1981 live duet of “Hot Legs” with, appropriately enough, Tina Turner.

Disc three features concerts from 1984 in San Francisco (including the hit “Some Guys Have All The Luck”) and a 1989 New Jersey show that saw him reach back to his days with the Jeff Beck Group on “I Ain’t Superstitious.” Also included on this disc are covers of Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay” and Bruce Springsteen‘s “Hungry Heart.”

The last disc covers the ’90s and and sees Stewart revisiting his earlier acoustic-based music (in the wake of the success of his MTV Unplugged… and Seated album) including “Handbags and Gladrags” and “Cut Across Shorty.”

Live 1976-1998: Tonight’s The Night will be released March 18.
