So in case you haven’t figured it out, JACK FM loves the 80’s, because let’s face it: the 80’s were totally rad. And if you love the 80’s as much as we do, then you’ll be ecstatic to hear that after decades of relying on fuzzy memories of your childhood crush, Winnie Cooper (played by the all grown up and and lovely Danica McKellar), you’ll now be able to own the complete series of the Emmy Award winning The Wonder Years on DVD!

The Wonder Years first aired in 1988 and ran for six seasons. It centered around a young boy, Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage), and his family as they try to navigate through the tumultuous 60’s. The show also follows Kevin’s best friend, Paul Pfeiffer (Josh Saviano) and the eternal girl next door, Winnie Cooper.

Now we know that The Wonder Years has been available on Netflix for quite some time as well as being syndicated on a few cable TV channels. But here’s the rub with those versions, as well as why the iconic series was never released on DVD until now: the rights to the music could seemingly never be secured.

And for a show like The Wonder Years, the music was everything. The expansive soundtrack, from the title track, Joe Cocker’s “With a Little Help From My Friends” to Percy Sledge’s “When A Man Loves A Woman” during the two-part series finale, is  absolutely crucial to conveying the atmosphere of the series.

Thankfully, StarVista Entertainment/Time Life have secured the rights for virtually every song, bringing back The Wonder Years emotionally intact.

Senior Vice President of Entertainment Programming & Marketing for StarVista Entertainment/Time Life Jeffrey Peisch told, “The Wonder Years has long been the most requested TV show yet to be released on DVD, and we’re thrilled to have the incredible opportunity to bring this iconic show to its many fans.” Peisch continues, saying, “As we’ve done with many other classic TV shows, the series will be treated with the care and attention it fully deserves after all these years, with deluxe packaging, robust extras and a lot more. We’re really big fans of the series, too.”

The Wonder Years complete DVD collection will be available later this year. You can sign up here for updates.
