St. Patrick’s Day DUI Checkpoints & Traffic Stops In Los Angeles

By Nadia Noir

Since St. Patrick’s Day is Monday, a lot of people will be doing their faux-Irish festivities this weekend.

What that means is that drunk and belligerent people dressed like leprechauns will be roaming the streets–and being totally morons and getting in their cars to drive.

Keep the luck of the Irish on your side and don’t be one of those fools.

But if you wanna party down, Dublin-style, than get a sober designated driver to weave you through all the checkpoints so you can crawl into bed with your favorite drunk snack: a taco. California style.

Here’s a list of all the checkpoints, courtesy of LA Weekly:

-Today from 4 p.m. to midnight extra LAPD cruisers and motorcycles will hit the streets of downtown for what the department calls a DUI “saturation patrol.”

-Tonight from 5 p.m. to 1 p.m. an LAPD saturation patrol hits the department’s 77th Street Division area of South L.A.

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. a DUI checkpoint will be waiting for you on Vermont Avenue at Sixth Street in Koreatown.

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. expect another checkpoint on Sepulveda Boulevard at Parthenia Avenue in picturesque North Hills.

-Saturday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. there will be a checkpoint in action Figueroa and 112th streets in South Los Angeles.

-Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the LAPD will have a checkpoint just for you on Van Nuys Boulevard at the 5 freeway in gorgeous Pacoima.

-Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Broadway at Florence Avenue in South L.A. – you guessed it – the LAPD will be operating a checkpoint.

-Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. a checkpoint will be happening on Figueroa Street at Ninth Street near Staples Center and LA Live downtown.

-Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. a saturation patrol will be on duty on the Eastside of the city, also known as the LAPD’s Hollenbeck Division area (not to be mistaken for Silver Lake, Echo Park, or any other areas of the faux Eastside).

-Sunday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. extra patrols will be hitting the LAPD’s Southwest Division area, which is just south of the 10 freeway and west of the 110. It includes the neighborhoods around USC. Careful, Trojans.

-Monday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. the only official St. Patrick’s Day saturation patrol will be in the LAPD’s North Hollywood Division area.

Here’s another little love note from Los Angeles to the liquored-up:

The Avoid the 100 Los Angeles County DUI Task Force will be deploying 87 roving DUI patrols this St. Patrick’s Day as well as 13 DUI checkpoints throughout the county looking to stop and arrest drivers who are impaired by alcohol or drugs.

No hints as to where, so stay on your best behavior. That four-leaf clover will not get you out of a DUI.
