The sad saga of famed radio icon Casey Kasem has taken another turn as reports came out Friday that his remains are headed to Oslo, Norway for burial.

According to The Hollywood Reporter and several news outlets, Kasem, who passed away on June 15 in Gig Harbor, Washington, is “going to be buried in Norway,” confirmed a private investigator for daughter Kerri Kasem, Logan Clarke.

The Norwegian press also confirmed the arrangements with government official Wenche Madsen Eriksson quoted by reporter Marcus Husby as saying, “It is arranged. He’s going to Oslo.” Though that report didn’t reveal which of the 20 cemeteries in Oslo Kasem’s widow, Jean, has chosen, THR noted.

Danny Deraney, a spokesman for Kerri Kasem, stated, “We don’t know what [Jean Kasem’s] plans are. We just know that she wants to keep Casey away from [his] family and friends and by the looks of it, hiding from law enforcement.”

The last-known whereabouts of Kasem’s remains were found in Montreal, Canada, a location that daughter Kerri told The K-EARTH 101 Morning Show he “absolutely no connection to.” Now it seems Norway may be the final resting place after a 7,900 mile journey Jean Kasem took him on after removing him from a Santa Monica care facility.

Kerri also noted in the interview that her family’s feud with Jean has lasted over 34 years, telling K-EARTH 101’s Gary Bryan that “she cut all ties and communication when we were very young.”

Currently, Kerri has been working on a bill with stepfather Robert Naylor, who is a lobbyist, and assemblyman Mike Gatto, to  change how the court handles visitation rights of alienated family members who’ve been blocked from seeing an ailing parent or family member.

THR notes that the proposed bill hit the California Senate floor today as news broke that Kasem’s remains were moved to Norway.
