It was the year 1989 when Doc Brown and Marty McFly traveled into the future to the year 2015 in Robert Zemeckis’ classic film Back To The Future II.

Well, now that the year 2015 has finally come, it looks like we’re not only one step closer to the hover board becoming a reality, but also getting those self-tyingNikeicon1 Nike Plans To Release ‘Back To The Future’ Power Laced Shoes In 2015 shoes that blew our minds 26 years ago.

According to Mashable, a Nike exec has confirmed that the companyicon1 Nike Plans To Release ‘Back To The Future’ Power Laced Shoes In 2015 is working on bringing Marty McFly’s shoes to life for release to customers sometime this year.

Nike’s chief of innovation Tinker Hatfield (who also designed the shoes in the film) spoke at the Agenda Trade Show in Long Beach Monday where he revealed that the shoe, known as the Nike MAG, would be out sometime this year – power laces and all.

As to when that will happen, Hatfield reminds eager fans that there are still “11 and two-thirds months left in 2015″ and there is not yet a confirmed date they’ll be on shelves, reports shoe siteNice Kicks.

This isn’t the first time Nike teased the release of the iconic shoes. Back in 2011, Nike revealed it was working on the shoes and filed a patent for Power Lace technology, notes Mashable. The company later put a limited edition of 1,500 pairs of the Nike MAGs on eBay for charity to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.
