Sam Smith & John Legend Record ‘Lay Me Down’ For a Good Cause: Watch

By Shannon Carlin

Sam Smith and John Legend could record themselves reading the phonebook together and we’d love it, but luckily, for their first collaboration they decided to record “Lay Me Down” off In The Lonely Hour.

All for a good cause, might we add.

The two crooners released a video of them recording the bittersweet track, which has them playing off each other on lines like “Can I lay by your side, next to you, you/ And make sure you’re alright.”

The track will also raise money for the UK charity Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, taking place Friday, March 13.

“I recently visited a Comic Relief-funded project in my hometown which supports the young LGBT community in London,” Smith said in a statement about working with the charity. “I’m extremely proud that my single will help raise money for projects like this and many others in the UK and across Africa.”

Watch the two perform “Lay Me Down” together below.
