In a report on Vulture, a writer details their experience attending Nerd Night, a function put on periodically by Cuomo to revel in some aspect of nerdom. However, of late, the functions have been exploring a very specific nerdy topic: the plays of William Shakespeare.
Cuomo pays for whoever shows up to attend a screening of a Shakespeare play, which this time is a screening of the 2014 Globe Theatre performance of Antony and Cleopatra at West L.A.’s Laemmle Royal theater. Weezer fans will not that Cuomo penned a song called “Cleopatra” for the last Weezer album.
“He shows me what’s possible with language,” Cuomo said of Shakespeare. “Obviously, none of us can try to emulate him. But it’s inspiring to know how much power you can wield with words.”
