HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — City officials are expected to bench a controversial basketball project Wednesday that was under construction in the city’s popular Runyon Canyon Park.
The Department of Parks and Recreation recently agreed to halt construction on the project following criticism and legal action from residents in the area.
The project was funded by a $260,000 donation, which was contributed by the owner of a clothing company called Pink Dolphin.
According to city officials, most of the money was used to fix a retaining wall next to the proposed court.
The remainder of the money would have been used to affix the donor’s logo to the pavement.
If approval for the project is terminated, city officials will reimburse the donation to the owner.
