Nothing says summer like going on a much-needed vacation.

But it can get pretty pricey this time of year since everybody’s looking to get the heck out of dodge.

USA Today recently posted some information about how to get the most bang for your buck.

Departing for your trip AFTER August 23 can save you as much as 20% on your airfare. It’s the beginning of the Fall Deal Zone, which generally lasts until late October.

Here are just a couple examples of how much you can save if you wait for the FDZ.

American Airlines – LAX to JFK

  • Aug. 9-16: $539
  • Aug. 23-30: $489

United Airlines – LAX to EWR

  • Aug. 9-16: $458
  • Aug. 23-30: $392

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays are generally the cheapest days to flight within the U.S. If you plan to travel internationally, you should stick with Wednesdays and Thursdays.
