Before Bluetooth, lane departure warning and front collision avoidance systems were a thing, a car was considered to be luxury if it had plush cushion seats and a tape deck.  While there are many cars that have stood the test of time by introducing new technology, there are many cars that just couldn’t compete.

Below are 10 TV commercials for cars from the 80s that no longer exist today:

85 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z – “So much thunder under the hood!”

Toyota Cressida – “Legendary Toyota quality.  Quality that made Cressida the most trouble free car two years in a row.”

Buick GNX – “A vehicle bad to the bone.  Wouldn’t you rather have Buick?”

Chevrolet Caprice – “Compare the deep cushion comfort, the luxury, the ride, the full sized room. It’s an exceptional value.”

Plymouth Reliant K – “The best six passenger car value.  Aerodynamically redesigned to be more efficient.”

Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme – “The most popular car of the 80s.  Its style, its grace, its artistry says champion…and you feel it every move.”  

Subaru BRAT – “Sleek aerodynamic lines.  On demand four wheel drive.  A halo twin roof.  Inexpensive.  And built to stay that way.”

Honda Prelude – “Some people like to drive it wisely.”

Pontiac Bonneville – “If you like your cars, big, smooth and powerful, this should be your next one.  Pontiac, we build excitement!”

Ford Thunderbird – “Thunderbird?  Thunderbird…Thunderbird!  Have you driven a Ford, lately?”
